1987 v.i.n question
good day guys, i will be picking up a 1987 cab off a friend and i can't figure out what the 5th digit of the vin means, hopefully somebody has seen this. 1gcgd34j9f , any ideas? thanks.

I am not a 73-87 guy, so I could be wrong, but the D does seem odd. Have you looked at the cab to verify that it isn't just an oops on the title?
Edit: Maybe it's a Canada thing.

5th digit of the vin is line chassis type, 'D' = military truck 4x4

thanks for the help, we were told it was army but it is painted a dark pink, it does have a 6.2l, t400,d60/14bolt with 4:56 gears so it makes sense.
