does anyone know where to find EGR solenoid for carbed 86?
i found gm part number 1997658, but i dont know if its for my truck and has ca emissions. I found CRB 22292 through napa.mine has three vacuum ports and in these pictures it only has two. I thought maybe i would ask to see if anyone knows where to get one. 350 quadrajet ca emissions. They have plenty online for 87 tbi and up but not for feedback carbs. thanks

ok thanks the tbi solenoid will work? cuz it says 87 and up i was just making sure

Negative. The TBI one is a two port solenoid. Ours is a 3 port like in the pic I posted. They were only used on 85 and 86 CA emissioned trucks.

That's weird cuz it says it doesn't fit the 86 and it says for 85 5.0 I dunno

Sorry, I blew in the info for my truck. Mine was originally a "F" code 305.... 355 now.
Should still be the same part as long as you have the feedback carb system with the two stage accel pump (3 connectors on carb) and it is originally built with CA emissions. Majority of the 85-86 CA emissioned trucks were 305's..... Does the pic look like the one you need? |

ya it looks the same but all three vacuum ports are on one side on mine. i know one of them on mine is a vent. so maybe the one in the back is a vent to.

You know, after you pointed that out, you are right. (been awhile since I looked at mine) So I did some serious digging on this. 1997658 is the GM number for the Fed emissions or high altitude models.
Ours takes 1997657 which crosses over to a delco 214-327 which is discontinued but.........Autozone has part number EVS41 which is the exact part. For some reason, their catalogue is incorrect in the listing for yours as well as mine...... Imagine that, never seen that before! LOL ya right... Here is a picture of the correct one: |

I use a couple different websites. Some give you the entire number, some part of the number and then of course google. Once I got the number I just google image search the number and a brief description like "egr 1997657". Here's some of the links I use that are helpful finding GM numbers:

I'll start googling the number and guessing the first two until I come up with a good number and a photo match....
