Seatbelt Console For Sale
Very nice seatbelt console for sale. It has no holes or cracks. Should be painted and once done it would look great. It has some seatbelt rubs on the drivers side but I don't think it would be noticeable when installed.
$225 plus shipping. |

Re: Seatbelt Console For Sale
This would be a true 69-72 console because of the single door hinge and the blue bowtie.

Re: Seatbelt Console For Sale
Yes and the pictures don't do it justice. There are scratches in the paint but they are surface scratches. Repainting would resolve that issue.
You don't see many with no cracks or holes. I just don't want to refinish and resell. I would rather reduce the cost and let someone else do it. |

Either someone went through a LOT of trouble texturing the outer holes years ago and smoothing the inside holes....or it never had any....curious because it makes it hard for me to correctly restore w/out being able to disassemble to get the trim ring out and blast the parts fully....

Re: Seatbelt Console For Sale
The rivets don't go through? Are only on the inside? There's no way to disassemble? Got pictures? Not sure I follow. Got pictures?

Re: Seatbelt Console For Sale
The console in my early 69 is the same. No screws in the sides. This is the first one I've seen like mine, and I assure you mine is original. I always figured it may have been changed to increase strength or production efficiency. Here's a picture.

Also, I was able to get the trim ring out. It was a bit of a challenge to get at some of the tabs.

Re: Seatbelt Console For Sale
I can tell you guys that I have never seen this before but have seen some odd things on the early consoles. The oddest thing that I ever saw was a console that I restored for 70CST (Dewayne). His had all of the screw holes in the weirdest places and they came from the factory that way. What you probably have is an early run console that GM was trying to figure out the best way to produce these and found out later that adding the screws would allow them to take these apart. Just like in late 72 and early 73 they went to the bigger reinforced hinge to keep the back corners from breaking.

I like it better this way when together but refinishing won't be fun...thinking that since it's a black console anyways...I will remove the rest of the original label, clean it up, prep it, and paint it....it's got some minor grain wear but no cracks or holes so will make a nice console and seems it's rare so I'll advertise for someone with an early run 69 wanting a "correct" resto

Re: Seatbelt Console For Sale
If it helps, the build date was about the 2nd week of December, 1968. It also never had the jack label that I recall. Also, some other CST items available later in 69 were not present.

Re: Seatbelt Console For Sale
Here are pictures showing the outside where the holes usually are and the inside with the rivets.
