Shipping company OR to MD

I know this has been discussed many of times. From what I have heard, it is best to deal straight with a shipper rather than go through a broker that much I know. I know insurance is also important. Anything else I should look in too? Does anyone have a good recommendation. I am looking at a truck in Oregon and it would have to be shipped to Maryland.

Thanks,
Ray

Re: Shipping company OR to MD

I just used Dependable Auto shippers to move a vehicle from Minnesota to New Jersey. They were very competitive on the price and picked up two days after I paced the order, car was here five days later. I would use them again.

Concur avoid the brokers - some are good, some are outright crooks or idiots. Your dice to roll. I learned the hard way, bad exeperience. Some have had good experiences with brokers. So far...

I can highly recommend Bill Demoise trucking. SC based, but ships throughout CONUS. I'll never use anyone else again. He's dependable, and what clinched it for me was my Dad's description of how professional and respectful the driver was when he picked the truck at my pop's house in Indiana when I left it there for a couple months a few moves ago.

I have used Demoise trucking twice this year. They are a enclosed hauler and are the best of the best.

Re: Shipping company OR to MD

Call this guy. Rick @ 214-850-9444. He hauled a Blazer from OR to Randy in KS. He was hired through a broker as I understand it. When he was here he left me a card and told me if I needed anything hauled to just call him direct. Randy (teeitup) may have a heads up on his service as well. He is a owner operater with a 6-8 car hauler. Thanks, Tom

Re: Shipping company OR to MD

Did you put that it had to picked up quickly ? If you put no time line they can work it in it just depends on witch route the truck is on ( east to west or west to east ) at least that's how I did it.

Re: Shipping company OR to MD

btw - just happened to be on the phone with them today, and Bill Demoise has sold his company to Inter-City Lines. I spoke to a helpful gent names Mike. They still ship and still own their own trucks. Same phone number as Demoise and they actually get email addressed to him as well. Sounds as though they were "assimilated"... Anyway - I'm looking to move something on the west coast north to south and they could not help. Bummer.

That's a shame , Bill and his brother were great to deal with.

Re: Shipping company OR to MD

I had a great experience with a broker - HJM Shipping out of NJ http://www.hjmshipping.com/pages/home. I got my C-10 shipped from AZ to NJ last year for around $1050 including the broker's fee. I bought the truck on a Wednesday and it was in my driveway by Sunday. Henry is a pleasure to deal with and made the whole transaction a breeze. He was also very upfront about his fee, in fact you pay it separately from what you pay the trucker.

I guess I could have gone on U-ship or called a bunch of truckers myself but my time is worth more than that. If I were to ship another vehicle I would deal with Henry again. His reviews on the transport sites are all very positive as well (that's how I found him).

Re: Shipping company OR to MD

I just had a 72 delivered from Vancouver Washington to Maryland and it was $1280.00. The name of the company was United Road Vancouver and the carrier was United Road Alaska/Avt (must had a delivery or pick up out of Alaska). I believe the truck was picked up on a Thursday and I had it on the following Thursday.
