engine block id
i can't find the engine block id stamp anywhere near either head....is there any were else it could be...i do know that it is supposed to be a gm rebuilt motor

It explains the various locations. The main number to look for is located at the rear of the motor on the passenger side to the near the distributor. close to where the block bolts up to the transmission bellhousing. Mortec sbc block # locations Let us know what you come up with Have fun

The numbers by the passenger side head may have been milled off when the engine was rebuilt.

ID Casting
The stamped number could have been milled off if it was decked but there is a number cast into the block on the driver side close to the where the motor bolts to the tranny.
