Exhaust Kits?
Only kit I can find for a 76 C-20 350 is from summit and it dumps to the sides. I really want to go straight back. Who has used what and from where.
Thanks Jim |

Re: Exhaust Kits?
Your best bet is to find a local exhaust shop. They will do exactly what you want and you get to sit back and watch!

Re: Exhaust Kits?
How much does it cost on average to have an exhaust shop make one for you? Is it real pricey?

Re: Exhaust Kits?
Im there Atleast once a month. True dual 2.25 all the way out with no tips or mufflers is 150$. Glasspacks are 35$ each. Generic flowmasters are 65$. Tips range in price, 3.5x18 are 40$ for the pair, while my 5x18 are 90$. Id much rather give my exhaust guy 200$ and watch him professionally do it instead of me cussing and getting burnt by welding slag falling in my hair.

Re: Exhaust Kits?
Wow, that's a lot cheaper than I expected it would be. Good to know, thanks.

Re: Exhaust Kits?
It is just thin wall pipe, and Mig welding. Some places try to charge a ridiculous amount and they don't get my business. The shop I use has been in the same location for 30 years and he has done about 10 exhausts for me. Its a one man operation.

Re: Exhaust Kits?
That sounds ridiculous. I suppose it is the area. Every bit of mine is bent and welded while I watch, generally in about 2 hours.
I guess if there is only a few exhaust places around your area then they can get away with murder. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Exhaust Kits?
Back in '06 I bought a stainless x-pipe kit from 73-87chevytrucks.com for my '84 Sierra 1500. I think I paid in the neighborhood of $500 for the kit and had a buddy weld it up over a case of Shiner's. It held up really well and looked really nice, just had to trim to fit. Came with some Pypes mufflers too that didn't sound too bad but I ended up going to two Aeroturbine 3030's dumped after the axle spliced into that kit. With the AT3030's though, it drove the price way up on the full setup. They have the basic stainless x-pipe kits starting at $400 and goes up depending on muffler choice, pipe size, etc. It would probably cost you another $100 to have a shop cut and fit it to your truck since the hard work is already done.

Are the kits reg steel? seems replacement pipes, don't last long(salt dosn't help here) and a set of "factory replacement dual down pipes "wouldn't fit watch what you order going this route may be more expensive in the long run, if the pipes don't last where you live cheap pipes/muffler gets "there is nothing left to attach too" line in a couple of years I tried the cheap (I actually showed up using about 12 year old straight pipes from my 78 4X2 burb, banging on the cross member) thought thats a cheap bend but then worried they may wreck them, and still need exhaust

Re: Exhaust Kits?
I was just quoted $500 for duals with high flow cats and thrush mufflers from a local shop here in town, and that was stainless exhaust. Pretty good from what I've seen in Canada. They are putting a 2.25 catback on the G5 tuesday, for only $350. Best price around, everyone else was $4-500.

Re: Exhaust Kits?
Not bad for stainless. To the OP, just call a local shop and talk numbers, or drop by in your truck and show them exactly what you want.

Re: Exhaust Kits?
I've had great success with a local shop here but I have seen a few guys search local salvage yards and find near new systems for next to nothing. You may want to consider that option. It may be better for the budget.
