1965 c10 long fleet First build

Hey everyone, bought this a couple months back. This resto will be slow I think due to money reasons, It will hopfully be done after the summer. Then il wait for little things like new bumpers and tires. Anyway I paid 2200 for it Canadian. Not many around here, aculy the only one I could find so I hope its a good deal. Its a '65 c10 with a 283 and a SM420 tranny. The motor was rebuilt just before I got it. Drove it home 30 clicks and no trouble. Here it is!

Thanks, 30 Km, like close to 19miles

For my first question!! I am looking at moving up to a 4bl elderbrock with electric choke. When I do this il also replace the intake manifold. For now Id like to throw a better air filter on, Would any air filter bolt on both a 2 and 4 bl carb? Or do they take diff air filters. I was looking at the one below

Well, I got the box wood all cleaned out and box off. Seat is out and front end all tore apart, Cab will be off tomorrow.

1. I need a little help with the steering column. I cannot get it off,see pics.
2. When removing gas tank, how do I get the grommet off?(by the filler)
3. The gas tank line, how do I move it to take the cab off?

4. Oh yeah what size bolt for the altinator? It shakes violently and sparks, there is no bolt in bottem. More pics

right now if you order a new edelbrock carb from summit, you get a free chrome or black powder coated air filter. you probably need an adapter plate for the 2 bbl.

Remove the gas tank with the filler neck attached, it should slide out of the grommet. Then just roll the grommet out of the cab. For the fuel line, once it is loosened from the tank sending unit, go under the cab and remove the rubber hose that connects it to the line on the frame. Then remove the rubber grommet in the floor and feel the line up thru the hole. The alternator bolt is 3/8"-16 thread, but I don't know the length. You should be able to measure and get close on that.

Thank you! I thought the rubber under the cab was to cover a split, guess il go do away with the tank and gas linkage!

The pieces on the engine were dipped, then blasted then dipped again it a special coating.

Easy way for laymen, and not too far off accurate:
30 in half = 15
imagine 30 had a decimal point behind it and move it forward one place to the left = 3
Then add that to the 15 = 18 miles.

100km by half =50
move the unseen decimal = 10
add them = 60 miles.

(in reality and strictly speaking 100km = 62 miles, but the purpose is to give you a ball part idea of the distance)

Hope this helps, because I dont think Hollywood has it quite worked out yet.

Canadian thing possibly.

With the cab/box off and only the engine in place I was going to clean up the frame. Il just be using red oxide primer and black trem clad. For a quicker way to remove the rust I was thinking about using Muriatic acid or phosphoric acid. I will be doing electrolysis on the control arms and things as big as wheels. BUT for the frame what chemical is best? I can get 4l or M acid for 24.50 and phos acid for 32.75 from a local chemical place. Sand blasting or powder coating is not really an option.

A click is a click; it is the full movement of an L1A1 rifle gas regulator. Infantry navigate by bearing (compass) and distance (pacing)(pre GPS that is). The pacing was kept by one or two nominated soldiers (normal one of the rifles). They would count in lots of 100 metres (about 110 paces on the flat, 100 down hill and 120 uphill). The soldier would keep track of the '100 metres' by moving the gas regulator one mark. After a 100 x 10 the counter would get the attention of the sect comd by hand signals and signal the a 1000 metres had been travelled by lifting the rifle and obviously rewinding the gas regulator with a movement of the thumb. Yeah man, it is my pleasure!
I figured out some time ago that there is a reason behind just about everything, usually just waiting for someone to ask the question.

I been in the Army for 21 years now, and no one ever asked why we call them clicks. Guess it was time for me to learn too!

Anyways, I am really digging your build, your floor is an inspiration for me even though I am past that point in my build!

Iv got a lot done thats not seen yet, father has camera now, hes out fishing. Il get some more once hes back. Thanks! Il have to look at yours! Beautiful weekend here now so work can get done. Its around 80 f this weekend.

As you could see from previous pics the fan was white in color. Once I got them back I have them finished in semi gloss. I also cleaned up the generator and finished the casing in Cast iron color with clear coat, it looks good il have a picture of it tomorrow. I completed degreased the frame 3 times. I used purple power 50/50. Hooked up the hot water heater to my pressure washer and it good pretty good. Took off upwerds of 2inch's of build up of grease in areas. Soon il be starting electrolysis on the front end parts.

As soon as I get that cab corner floor panel pattern scanned into digits I will email it to you.

I have a busy week these next 4 days as we get ready for a long weekend!

Your not crazy, we all are. Don't be in a panic to send it. if it takes you a month then it does.

Yes I am keeping the motor. Its has a couple thousand on this is the rebuild. bout 2000km. I will be painting it aluminum color. This should be done by mid next month. Frame finished and engine done. Il be adding the eldebrock elite series package and a 500cfm 4 barrel, performer intake, and dual 2-1/4 pipes with 40' flows and a H pipe. then I can work on the box and the cab. Get things primed and put back on. Possibly a mild cam to if I can make my mind up on what one.

That sounds like a real cool plan!
I am probably going to do with the Edlebrock Performer intake and a 650 cfm carb.
