Question Whining noise when accelerating

When I have my foot on the gas, sounds like rearend whining, but as soon as you let off the gas, goes away, did these old trucks just sound like that, or is it in need of a rebuild? I drove the truck from Amarillo, Tx to Vacaville, Ca with no problems, of course I took the 12 bolt cover off and inspected, put fresh gear oil and new gasket before taking off. I'm pretty sure it's a 3.73to 1 ratio. It has a TH-350 and 327 with fuelie heads, performer intake, carter afb 600, headers, and a big Isky cam, HEI distributer.

most times that is the pinion bearings in the rear starting to go. it could last years like that, or it could self destruct tomorrow. bearings are cheap!
