Anyone ever Put what I think is a D-50 in a Chevy
Wellllllll heres the Story.... Perusing my Local U-Pull-It on Tuesday... an I Ran Across a Dana 50 with 4.10's in it an with Warn Lockouts on it.... and I went back the next day tools in hand an Pulled the Sombuck! 4 Hours and $213 Later its on the Flatbed... Now I KNOW the Truck was a BEAST that it was on.... Some one Loved that truck... and there were ALOT of Quality Aftermarket Parts on it...... Just Really Curious if anyone has ever put one on their Chevy?!?

The Dana 50 is not as strong as the 60 you have. It is basically a Dana 44 with 60 outers. The good news is that you can use the hubs and spindles on your 60, but if you are planing new school drivetrain you may as well use it since it is drivers side drop.

Dana 50 is regarded as a garbage axle around here. They are worth scrap weight.

They are only marginally stronger than a Dana 44 (and that is debatable) and no where close to a Dana 60. The TTB version came in Fords from 1980-1997 and the solid version 1998-2002.

You sure its a dana 50 those never came out tell 1999 in the f250 super duty.I have seen the 80s/90s fords changed over to leafs in the front and super duty axles so it could have been swapped in.Redcap the ifs f250 is a dana44 center but your right it is weaker then a solid dana 44.

Re: Anyone ever Put what I think is a D-50 in a Chevy
As was posted earlier, '80's and '90s Ford Dana 50's are TTB units. Nothing about that would swap into a Chevy. The '99 to ~'02 Super Duty's had a solid axle Dana 50, but that's going to have a metric bolt pattern.
As to TTB 50's being junk, you can get a kit to run D50 R&P in a D44, and also machine to outters to fit the 44 housing. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=948996 Or set it up for full on race Neither of these is cheap, but I thought I'd share just to show everyone what's out there. |

Re: Anyone ever Put what I think is a D-50 in a Chevy
LOL! By the title I thought this thread was about putting a D50 (small Dodge pickup made by Mitsubishi) in a Chevy truck bed. Now I see it's actually about a "Dana 50". Language, what a wonderful thing when you use it.
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_TsdjySqKQl...ickup.+-+3.jpg My answer was going to be,"It won't fit"
