New Member need help
Hi, I am a new member here, I need some help with my 87 GMC Suburban. Hope there is some someone who can help...... What would cause my ECMB fuse, 10 amp, to constantly blow? The motor is a '94 5.7L, it also tends to hesitate through 1st gear, like it is losing power?......Thanks for any help...Kev

don't get mad
NEW DUDE, my 87 did the same thing ,popping that fuse. where the small injector wires pass through the throttle body had rubbed through and was shorting out . these years are also fussy about battery connections power, check cables good and especially connections down at starter . give the pos. cable the 'pull' test. if it pulls out and is corroded then fix that. Kev, this is the "parts" board (where things are bought and sold)...not the "message board" like Jeremy stated.
Just cause you have a question doesn't mean we will have the answer! Is the truck fuel injected? If so, have you checked the injectors? -Jeff |

Thanks for the reply, Cross, I realized that it may be the wrong topic, but it wa too late. Any help is good help, no matter how you get it, Thanks for your help all. I am still tryin to figure this thing out. Is it better to just take it in and have it diagnosed?

My 87 suburban had a injector wire caught in the air filter housing and when I went to work the next morning, pop, the truck died! Blew the ecm fuse, did some looking around and walla, that was the problem, little electrical tape and she was good as new!
Also I am moving this to the 73-87 message board. Please do not get pissed off at the forum because you didn't get the responce you wanted right away! I know this forum has many boards and it might be confusing at first, where to post a topic, but you still had this in the wrong board, so please don't be mad at everyone else. Thanks. If you have any questions or comments you can e-mail me personally. . . . racedvl@ameritech.net |

Race, not mad at anyone. Just don't like getting flamed when I posted that I was new and didn't know better. All really wanted was to find an answer. Thanks for the heads up on the wires. Seems like it is something different thouhgh. The truck runs for a while then dies. Maybe a block or two. Could this be from a bad fuel pum relay, I have read that tis may be the culprit. Might make sense due to the fact that the truck seems to hesitate through first gear.....

Thanks for the welcome guys. On another message board I have had some sugestions as well as from here. Heres the list of things I have tried
Ground strap on firewall intact No pinched/shorted wires on throttle body no obvious shorts at dash i.e. cigarette lighter wire fuel flow looks good at throttle body The truck runs very well at idle and revs nicely in park, no stumble or miss. In drive, truck feels like it loseds power through first gear, like it is not getting fuel or is dropping a cylinder. If I put a 10 amp fuse in ECMB and drive for 1-2 blocks, it blows fuse. what is the ECMB? |

Pairomedic: Hope your not trying to use a defibulator to revive your rig. That would definately blow a fuse. LOL

Welcome to the board;
Most members are usually out and about, Sat-Sun Morning when you posted your topic, I know I was out at the boneyard at 7a., then got stuck at a wedding shower for 10 hrs, with a bunch of drunk women, damn near needed your services around 2am. (see pic below) Just curious why you didn't choose the correct spelling for your user name (Paramedic is available) and we dont flame Paramedics, just Firemen |

Pairomedic is a play on "A PAir of Medics"...My buddy and I own a boat and plan on running it as a guide boat. It is also part of a screen name I use on antother forum. Btw, I AM a fireman....we do both in the department here I work. Still wondering about the fuel pump relay though......
