carb linkage

Hi Guys
Heres my problem I have a 1970 C/10 with a small block V/8 in it with a turbo 350 trans. The trouble is it sets in the 6 cylinder location(the motors up againts the fire wall.) The carb linkage is for a 6. I don't have enough throw to open the 4brl.I know I can put a cable in but I don't think it will help It'll still be too long. Cutting the cable just seems like guess work.Anyone got the same problem?

Wouldn't it be better to take the time and position the motor correctly? That way things like, linkage, exhaust and cooling fan operation are all stock replacment items.

Unfortunately this is the way I bought this I could tell you horror storys about how this was put together ,drive shaft that was cut and welded back together,motor mounts with no bolts in them.Are just a few.I would like to find the guy who put this together and punch him in the nose

I'm sure you don't want to hear this but fixing the problem is going to make life easier in the long run. Maybe start with a CL or better a board sourced drive shaft. Then start moving things around. If you need frame stands/mounts they should be real easy to find on the board as well. If it is a matter of measurements they are likely free for the asking. Downtime is probably the only real problem.

I had the same problem. My original carb had the right bracket that attached to the linkage but I bought a re-built carb and had to fab something to work with the linkage (after some adjusting, it works fine). Here's a pic.

Here is a link to exactly what I did when I swapped out my 402 with the factory Quadrasuck for my 454 with a holley. It worked great, and looks awesome too.
