Mount wood bed without the wood???
Hey everyone I have a 71 C20 with a wood bed. I just recently got the truck driving again. I pulled the entire bed off and tore it apart to clean repair and rebuild.
Now since it is a wood bed I need the wood in order to mount it to the truck correct? I've never done a wood bed before that's why I ask. I won't have the money for the wood nor the bolts for some time now that's why I'm asking. Posted via Mobile Device |

You really need wood to hold the bed up and bolt it down. Might be able to get by with planks in a couple of strategic locations though. Here is a link to a page we have been working on the last couple of days.

Might try a couple sheets of plywood. Won't look great, but it'll get you on the road...

Definitely need something at the mounting points or you'll have 3/4"of slop. The bed will be sagged and jump up and down. At least that's how some of mine got when the wood rotted

I've had a sheet of plywood in mine for 5 or 6 years with bolts from Home Depot ... some day i'll get a proper floor. (I have had to replace the plywood a couple of times, as it sits in the weather year round)

I'll probably do the plywood idea I don't like it but I'll have a working bed.
