Attaching C-10 fender emblems

When I built my 68 C-10 six years ago, I painted it in pieces and was able to install the C-10 fender emblems before re-assembling the truck. I am presently having the truck professionally re-painted, but without disassembling it. To remove the fender emblems, I unbolted the fenders at the bottom, sprung them out about 1-1/2" and, utilizing a 3/8" Gearwrench taped to a stick, backed off the speed nuts. A very arduous process, to say the least.

Anybody out there have an easier solution to re-installing those C-10 fender emblems?

I used some barrel clips like is used to hold on the center tailgate chrome over the handle. Worked really well

You can remove the inner fender for better access to the back of the fender. Another option is to use a barrel clip. The holes in the fender may need to be drilled larger for the clip, then the studs of the emblem just push into the clip.

They look like this.

Re: Attaching C-10 fender emblems

I have used the barrel clips before, don't really like them because they hold the emblem to far away from the the sheet metal. To get the emblem up close and tight to the fender just install them with pal (speed) nuts before putting the fenders on or remove the inner fenders.

3m double sided tape. Put it on and trim around the emblem. No drilling and no nuts

Re: Attaching C-10 fender emblems

I actually glued mine on with some quality epoxy. They've been on there for 15 years.
