Setting Cab Glass ?????
Would anyone care to shed some light on the best way to set the rear and corner cab glass for my 48 5 window. I can't seem to come up with a step by step how to. Did the glass in my 55 but I'll need a starting point to get this glass in
Thanks! Last edited by Tuned55; 05-02-2012 at 09:20 PM. |

Re: Setting Cab Glass ?????
sorry i can't be of much help, but will tell you a friend came by yesterday with his truck he just got on the road and he ended up taking his to a glass shop and let them do it, he just gave up trying. His had the chrome strip in the rubber seal too.. when we did the suburban we took it in and had the glass shop do it.. for me it was money well spent..

My internet is sucking, so I can't verify, but I think this episode of Trucks! shows the glass install in a 5 window:

Re: Setting Cab Glass ?????
I don't have a step by step but it was fairly easy on mine. A friend of mine gave me a hand, it's a 4 hand job, and he had the tool needed to install the lock strip. We installed all three back windows in less than 30 minutes.

Re: Setting Cab Glass ?????
I saw someone do it either on YouTube, or the tech section of (maybe) Classic Truckin online. The tool you need for the lock strip is available from several vendors. Google it? I'm gonna use that same rubber when I get closer to finishing mine up, so I kinda keep an eye out...
They say (who?) that the corner glass is a real pain. But it's doable if you don't have too much money. Good Luck. |

Re: Setting Cab Glass ?????
We had the glass guys do it. They came and were done in an hour installed windshield and back glass. And poof were gone.
We wish we did it ourselves but eh... They said each truck is different. They had done a suburban front and took them 3 hrs. So we felt was best left to glass guys. Er, like not rebuilding a trans yourself kinda thing. Now a full warranty on the glass on leaking etc... Our. 02¢ Posted via Mobile Device
