Best way to mount Transmission

I have my 3speed out and my motor out , both have been cleaned up and painted. whats the best way to bolt them back up? Do I set the engine down on the mounts then slide the trans on ? or other way around.

This is my first time doing this.

Put them together while you have them out. So much easier that way. Then just slidem in...sort of easy.

Re: Best way to mount Transmission

if you cant put them in together put the engine in first then the trans it is much easier to match trans to engine then engine to trans but it can be done both ways if need be.

Re: Best way to mount Transmission

I prefer to have the transmission in place first. I slide the pressure plate and clutch disc on and then set the engine in. Then bolt the pressure plate on. I think it is much easier this way.

Of course if you can bolt them together out of the truck that is the easiest.

Re: Best way to mount Transmission

If you have the cab off it is easy to put them together outside the truck and them lift into place. I did mine not to long ago. If you install the engine perches on the frame but leave the bolts loose it is a lot easier to get the motor mount bolts in.
