66 rear bag question
I have a stock 66 long bed. I tow my landscaping trailer around all day, daily driver. The stock springs are pretty much done. I've been looking at the D2600 bags for the rear but in the searches I've done I can't clarify if I need brackets or not. I've searched a few site vendors and can't find a specific application for the 66. I already have air shocks in the rear.
I just want a set up I can air up with my shop air if needed. Is it better to spend the 400 bucks for a kit from ridetech and have it done? Thanks.

Re: 66 rear bag question
You can mount the bag directly to the trailing arm and the frame.
You will have to drill 2 mounting holes in the frame,... and a larger hole for the air fitting. The trailing arm bolt will need to be a 3/8"x4" bolt with a large heavy washer under the bolt head. I would just run to separate lines to the rear of the truck and instal schraders on them for easy fill with your shop air.

Thanks for the reply. That sounds really easy and cost effective!! I appreciate it!
I lived in Columbia for a year two years ago and drove over to Fulton to see the airport. Great area!

If the truck is stock height & the bags are bolted directly in place w/o any 'brackets', it will likely lower the rear of the truck. The brackets would add to the overall height & might be better for an application where the truck is @ stock height.

http://www.ridetech.com/store/1963-1...ar-system.html Early Classics also used a larger sleeve type bag in their kits @ one point in time that might work as well too so they might be another possible option.

Re: 66 rear bag question
I am thinking universal bag cups will work in this application, and I can get those for you separately.

Re: 66 rear bag question
Technically, only one is required for the top of the bag. Another nice thing about using them is it makes the install eaier (no holes to drill).

Re: 66 rear bag question
We offer a complete rear system that would include all the necessary items required to install the airbags in your truck, along with the airbags and new shocks. Since you use the truck for hauling, it's going to be best to keep the bags independent from each other so you don't end up cross loading the bags. You can use a simple shradder valve system to fill the bags independently and run the lines to a simple location that can be filled from an air source ( home compressor, on board compressor, etc. ). We can supply you with airline and fittings as well, or you can try and source them locally if you prefer.
Here's a picture of our system that retails for $349.00 as shown The stage 1 rear kit is both an economical and easy way to lower the rear of your 63-72 C10's trailing arm suspension. The air spring and mounting plates replace the factory steel coil spring, allowing a better ride quality and adjustability! Our Stage 1 shock relocator brackets improve shock function by decreasing the shock angle! Includes: -Upper air spring mounting cup -Lower air spring mounting plate -Upper and lower shock relocator brackets -Two Slam Specialties SS7 or SS6 air springs -KYB shocks -All grade 8 mounting hardware You can also check it outline and call or email us with any questions or concerns. http://www.porterbuiltfabrication.co...-1963-1972-349

It's a sweet kit and for that price it's a killer deal considering the bags and shocks are included.

Can you PM me a price without the shocks? I already have new air shocks installed. And yes, I'd want the air line included to make it easier.

Re: 66 rear bag question
Let me know as we are a Porterbuilt dealer and can help you out as well. Is there a group buy happening here?
Can't beat it for the price and comes with shocks and relocation brackets which most people often forget is needed also to do it correctly. |

Re: 66 rear bag question
Use the shocks that come w/the kit & shelve the air-shocks. Correct gas pressured shocks add to the ride quality.

Re: 66 rear bag question
You can use the factory track bar / pan hard bar with the system. It's an option if you would like to upgrade to our adjustable track bar, but not required.

Re: 66 rear bag question
I already have a Super Track Bar kit with the shock relocators, and a 5" drop rear coil. If I wanted to add a supplemental bag system to augment the suspension when I pull a trailer or a heavy load in the bed, what set-up would I use? Nathan's set-up looks like it replaces the coils with bags. I'd like to have a little of both. Springs for everyday use, bags for the heavier load.
Is there a kit that has what I'm looking for?

Re: 66 rear bag question
I really like the look of this kit. I want to put bags in the rear of my truck for hauling/handling, but i don't want to lower it much. I want to keep the front stock height and be able to have the rear almost level with it. Would this kit work for me?

Re: 66 rear bag question
Yes, that Porterbuilt kit would work for you. However, I would add a cup kit (spacer) so the back of the truck does not sit as low.

Re: 66 rear bag question
Ok, Got the kit, got it installed, waiting to see if the passenger side still leaks. I think I found the spot it was leaking but not sure.
Kit was pretty good. It didn't fit like I thought it would but it looks dam sturdy. took it on a small test drive and it felt just fine.... just have to see about the leak.
