How to adjust throttle cable?

So I finally realized that my throttle cable is not hooked up right and pedal to the floor does not completely open the carb. How do I adjust the throttle cable? I think it needs to be tightened up a little. Do I do that from the carb end (I have an edelbrock if it matters) or on the pedal itself?

Inside the cab I can see there is about 1 inch of play in the pedal before it starts pulling the cable. Can I just shorten this?

You can set my truck on fire and roll it down a hill,
and I still wouldn't trade it for a Coupe de Ville.

Re: How to adjust throttle cable?

What throttle bracket do you have? Sounds like it might be too close to the carb. As far as I know there isn't any adjustment...

I haven't got a clue. How do I tell? I'll post a pic later.

Is there supposed to be any play in the pedal before it starts pulling the cable? Or should it be tight? I can move the pedal back and fourth about an inch without it moving the throttle.

Re: How to adjust throttle cable?

There shouldn't be that much play. If the throttle bracket were farther from the carb it would take up the play...

Re: How to adjust throttle cable?

Here's a crappy cell phone pic, my other camera wouldn't work. I added a cable clamp to the end of the throttle cable to take out some of the play, and that made a HUGE difference. It's still not the right way to fix it though...I'll try and play with the throttle bracket tomarrow.

Re: How to adjust throttle cable?

To me, that bracket looks to be too close to the carb.
