donor tbi swap into a 66
Anyone out there swap a tbi ran motor from a gen one or 92 chevy?...
the only thing im caught on is if the computer and harness has to swap or if there is a more (Basic) way of doing things. I have a strong motor in a truck that wont pass smog so i'd like to use and leave the original 327 for a down the road rebuild. Didint see much in the search.. Thanks folks!!

Would not be hard at all to use that style engine verses an LS, yeah you would need the computer and all unless you just wanted to throw and carb on it and go.

Yes you will need the computer, the wiring harness and all the sensors needed for the engine to run correctly. The TBI swap harnesses are relatively cheap, unless you like to sort thru wiring harnesses.....or have more time than $$.

I originally had a 5.7(350) TBI in my suburban, but have since changed to a 427 w/ TBI from a '90 7.4L.
Using a Painless Performanc harness. Very simple hookup. |
