Seats out of 06 Silverado fit?

Found some 40/20/40 seats out of a 2006 Chevy.

Will they fit in my 86? I know I'll need custom brackets, but worried about width and general fitment.

These are out of 88-98. Would they fit better in the old chevy?

Re: Seats out of 06 Silverado fit?

You can run either seats, its just at what level of simplicity do you want.

I'm running a 60/40 from a 95 C1500 in my 79 C10.

My nephew is running 04 40/20/40 seats in his 81 K20.

I was able to make the 95 seat to sit on the factory slides from my bench seat.

He took a different approach and flattened the floors on his cab to allow the newer seats to fit.

You have to modify the brackets of the 99-07 seats, since they are an integrated frame/bracket set up, if you don't want to modify your floors.

88-98 Seats can be separated, frame and brackets are separate.

I'd put my money on the 88-98 seats, however, it is nice to have the seat belts built into the seats.

I'm not sure I really even helped you here

Im putting 04 in now I'm 6'1" my head hit the roof. To get them even with back glass u will have too remove tanks and put a c channel in and lower it about 2-2 1/2 inches that puts them at factory seat height. But u will have to put diff fuel tank in

Sounds like the 06 seats need more fab work to get them to fit right. The built-in seat belts don't really affect my decision. I'd actually prefer the stock seat belts.

The only drawback to the 88-98 buckets is no middle fold down seat, which I need with 2 kids of my own.. Did they make a 40/20/40 seat for 88-98 ?

Re: Seats out of 06 Silverado fit?

They did a 60/40 with a fold down arm rest from 95-98. That is what I have in my 79. Since mine is a 95 seat, I dont get the flip down arm rest/console with storage, just a large arm rest.

You can also use Dodge Ram seats from like 94-2000 ish, when ever the body changes, could use newer ones, but I'm not sure on compatability. I've done that in the past, that dodge ram arm rest/storage is HUGE!

To adapt these to my factory slides, I used 1.5" cube steele to make a frame, bolted frame to the seats, welded frame to slides. You end up with a 60/40 bench seat :-)

I looked for a pic of my seats, but didn't come up with anything, I'll try and snap one tonight for you.

This is good info, I've been trying to figure out what to do about seats in mine.

Re: Seats out of 06 Silverado fit?

I would also check out Chrysler Sebring convertible seats with integrated belts. I don't know how they would work but I think they are lower overall, and a bit narrower.

Example:
