Re: docs blocks

I have been down that road also. No one is selling anything that i can find that will work. I even talked to a buddy at vintage air about it with no luck.

I purchased the factory LS lines from a parts store and had a shop swap the other end to fit my setup.

I plan to do something similar to this. I will probably use the LS hoses, cut off the end and weld an appropriately sized -AN o-ring male fitting to the end of it. My goal is to make something that looks similar to the Doc's Blocks fittings.

Mike those look like standard #8 and #10 fittings. You should have no problem with them working with the Vintage Air hose setup.

Thanks Rob. Have you used the stock compressor in the stock lower position on any of your LS installs? Do you have any pictures?

When I look these part numbers up at the transair site I can't find the 313558 fitting and the 313556 looks like a straight fitting. Don't we want a 90 degree fitting?

Mike I used the stock compressor on my suburban with ECE mounts. I have been told the LS car compressors won't work with vintage air. I didn't notice that they weren't 90 fittings. Check if VA has anything that will work:

http://www.vintageair.com/catalog.asp

If you still have the original block, I would just take it to a high pressure hose shop and have them build you what you need.

Re: docs blocks

I have the docs blocks on my LS swap with stock truck compressor and ECE mounts, I chose the earlier model compressor because I was told it would work better with the Old Air products AC system I have.

I was told the newer compressors have variable valving ( I think that is what they said) and it will cycle way too much for these aftermarket systems. Remember I am not an ac guy, I am only regurgitating what I have been told and it may or may not be accurate.

would this work?

When you say you're using and older version, is it a 99 up LS style? Do you have any pictures of your install? I'm trying to figure out what pieces I need to order for my hoses too?

Truck compressors are not supposed to be variable, only the cars. But with some many different variants out there, I would talk to whoever you are getting the AC system from and ask them.
