a couple ??'s
To save space i'll just post them in one post, '
First- Are a 250 ci and 292 ci mounted a direct swap bolt for bolt in a 1966 C20 PU Second -I was told this last weekend that a six and V8 both use the same frame mounts ,using different metal/rubber mounts, true? Third - A freind has a five lug RE that was in a COIL sprung truck for free. He THINKS it was in a late 70's PU using lower numerically three series gears. (like 3:36 - 3:40's) W/O more info does this RE ring a bell w anyone and will it directly swap , bolt in, w the stock drive shaft for my massive 66 RE (I do NOT care if it is 3/4 legal or capable, my truck will be downgraded(UP?) to a 1/2T rating.) |

Re: a couple ??'s
The frame sides of the motor mounts will work, I've ran two v8's and a 250 using the same ones.

Re: a couple ??'s
I’m no expert on these questions but from what I’ve picked up on this site:
Question 1 & 2 - The frame mounts are the same on the 230 and 250, and the small block V8. The passenger side frame support is different on the 292, so the swap will work but you’ll need to find a 292 frame support first. Captainfab should have the answer on your rear axle question if you don’t receive other input.

Re: a couple ??'s
The poster above is correct the 292 has a different mount on one side.
The rear end sounds like a 72 5 lug.

Re: a couple ??'s
The above posts are correct concerning the motor mount brackets. The motor mounts themselves are the same for all I6 and small block engines from '63-'72 in the trucks. If I remember correctly the number for those is 2882. With the I6 engines there is a wedge shaped bracket that connects the motor mount to the engine block.
The rear end you described, sounds like a '71 or '72 truck 12 bolt. If it does have the trailing arm mounts, and the boss on the center section for the panhard bar, then it should bolt in just fine. You will have to get a shorter panhard bar than what is on your C20 though. You will need one for a '65-'72 C10.

Re: a couple ??'s
As the truck is going to be lowered, I should probably just buy the aftermarket shortened P bar at the same time as the springs , Not?
Thanks for the prompt answers |

Re: a couple ??'s
Yes that would work as well, but you will want a longer panhard bar, which is what is sold for the lowered trucks.
