Marine/boat 6 cyl questions
I guy brought this 6 cyl boat engine in the scrap, he said it is a good engine he had saved for years for a boat project but never used.
I asked a mechanic who's brother is a boat mechanic and he said the engine will work fine in a truck. It has looser clearances and a mild cam for boat applications, but will haul @$$ in a truck. I pulled the oil cap and it is as clean as new in the valve area, so I am thinking it may be a good runner. Anyone know if this is correct info on it being able to be run on the street ?

Re: Marine/boat 6 cyl questions
Yes you can run a marine engine on the street. It will run just fine, in fact some guys will put a marine spec cam in their regular automotive engines because they like how they run. Of course you will have to change the intake/exhaust and the thermostat housing.

Make sure this is rotating in the right direction and was not the opposing twin from a dual inboard.

Re: Marine/boat 6 cyl questions
Also, most boats don't have the vacuum advance distributor you find on cars. Boats don't get bogged down on acceleration like cars do because the propeller slips in the water. A marine engine on the street might experience hesitation because of this.
