Noob radio removal
I have searched forthis answer, but I haven't found it quite yet.. I am planning on adding an aux input jack to my stock AM radio. I am not quite sure how to take the radio out. I will remove the ashtray and the heating/vent control first, but how does the radio actually come out?
Do u remove the knobs first? Do they twist off? Pull straight out? I apologize in advance for asking what appears to be an easy question. I am new to this, and don't want to break it. ![]() Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Noob radio removal
Pull the knobs off and you will find the nuts that hold the radio to the dash. It should also have a strap/bracket with a nut on the back of the radio that also needs to come off and then its on! don't forget to disconnect the electrical plug&ground. Cheers, Pat

Re: Noob radio removal
Thanks pat! I take it you just pull straight out, away from the dash? No twisting??
I found it odd that of the three knobs to remove from the dash bezel, each had their own way or removal.. Brilliant!!! Posted via Mobile Device |

A couple of pictures in this thread show how the brackets bolt together. The flat piece with two holes in the first picture bolts to the firewall. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=434965 LockDoc

Re: Noob radio removal
You usually have to twist and turn it until it comes out the glovebox hole. It won't pull straight out.
