Cupholder console restored

This was soda blasted then prepped and painted satin black. Nice trim ring, nice cupholder insert, and good bowtie. Finishing up with black painted factory hardware or can do stainless for $15 extra.

275 shipped FIRM in CONUS.

This console has a crack in the back that I didn't notice until after blasting. Will not affect structure and won't be seen if used in a truck. Normally I get 350 plus shipping for these so the crack has been taken into consideration already.

Also you will notice two screws in the side. I left these in because of what they are...they are connected to latches on the inside...I believe the PO of this console used it to hide spare keys inside the console. I think it's a cool option.

On some factory colors I use SEM...
also have used dupont for interiors sprayed professionally...

but on black...are you ready??? I use Krylon Fusion for plastics and spray 3-4 coats...

It bonds great to the consoles. It's very durable and I've used it to spray other interior items with success as well. I've used SEM black as well and I like the sheen of the Krylon better. I wish they had it in all the factory colors because I like how it looks and bonds to the console.

Re: Cupholder console restored

I have used the Fusion as well with great results...........graining pads are my next goal on console restoration. I have used them before but the compound used is the real trick

Jonathan doesn't Krylon Fusion leave the pieces to shiny?

I thought they (console, door panels) are supposed to be a semi-gloss to matt type finish? Just curious I have been on the fence about using this product for that very reason.

Thanks,

Yes, the factory pieces are a satin/semi-gloss finish. Krylon has a gloss but came out with the satin a couple years ago and I use that.

No, I found a guy local who blasts them for me. For what he charges, it would be a while before I could justify the investment. Also, he's been bead blasting my metal parts as well...

I agree on the Krylon Fusion. It is a perfect choice if you have an interior that matches their selection. Super adhesion (substrate must be properly prepped) and appropriate sheen.

Here's my latest console. Sold already. But can make another like it with either brushed as shown or a polished plate.

thanks, and yes, the black cupholder not billet

Billet ones go for 540. I have been thinking about painting one of the billet ones black and leave the cupholders stainless....might try it to see how it looks...can always strip the paint off and polish or brush it later...
