Gonna enter my truck in it's first carshow tomorrow
Not really a fan of participating in carshows because I hate strangers nitpicking my truck to pieces, but although its not quite complete, I feel comfortable enough to show it. Entry is from 8-noon so i'll probably show up around 11:30 so I dont have to sit there all day. I've been cleaning this damn thing all afternoon and finally I said to hell with this im going in to cool off and have a beer. I've only entered in one other carshow and that was 20 years ago, and I left madder than hell when a 1993 stepside conversion truck that rolled off the lot won my class( I had a nice lowered and scalloped 90 SWB that I was proud of). So i'm kinda leary of doing this again, but oh well, gonna try anyways.

My view when entering a judged carshow is ...... man you cant beat the parking spot. Time to hangout with friends. My cooler is close by for drinks an snacks.
Who won 1st ? Heck I dont care. Take lots of pics for us to drool over !

Re: Gonna enter my truck in it's first carshow tomorrow
I entered a car show last 4th of July and won the Mayor Choice award - biggest trophy, blah, blah, but the guy that brought a mega-dollar trailered 54 Ford pickup (and it was extremely nice) has to still be scratching his head over that one.
Anyway, who wins trophies at a show isn't always objective. In my case, the mayor told me his dad had a truck like mine. Other times, guys from various car clubs vote for members rides no matter what, etc. You just can't take it too seriously.

Re: Gonna enter my truck in it's first carshow tomorrow
I go to 4-5 car shows/cruise nights a week around Connecticut and Western Mass.
I very rarely stay by my truck. I like to look at other people's stuff and take pictures. My main objective is to go have a good time and meet and b/s with people (even though I'm not a social butterfly). If I happen to win a trophy, it's just icing on the cake.

Re: Gonna enter my truck in it's first carshow tomorrow
Go to have fun and enjoy the day. Just hearing nice comments from people was enough for me. Winnning is nice but if you go with the intentions of winning at some point your going to be disappointed. I have been to hundreds of shows and have seen just about all of it.

Re: Gonna enter my truck in it's first carshow tomorrow
I have entered my truck in several shows i go mainly to see other vehicles and exchange tips etc. If i win cool if i dont cool. Many times judges make their descisions based on friendships and popularity. I prefer to go to car cruises that way there is no competition.

Re: Gonna enter my truck in it's first carshow tomorrow
Looks good, congrats, like the truck. I have entered my truck in lots of shows over the past year around the Lubbock area. I agree with others, its all about looking at the other cars and trucks, getting ideas, talking to others about what they have done to their rides etc. If you get a trophy that is just a bonus. My truck is not perfect but I win a few plaques over the past year.

Re: Gonna enter my truck in it's first carshow tomorrow
You could have left out the only 1 entrant part!! Nobody would ever know, and I'm sure you'd still be 1st if there were many entrants - that truck is niiiiice.

Re: Gonna enter my truck in it's first carshow tomorrow
I agree that's a nice truck.
I went to a show once in a different place when I started showing my truck and knowing it was a good looking truck but had a ways to go.I pulled up and a guy had a El Camino there, that was his first time ever showing.Well we talked for a while and his family came by,I walked off. Then later on in the morning about 3 more showed up that was from the area. Well come placque time I go in and set down then the other guy and his family comes in and sets down beside me . We talk for a while then comes our class, well needless to sayI wound up 3rd place Chris gets 1st I have no problem.Come to find out the guy with 2nd place BOUGHT that placque,he tried 1st place but didn't. Moral of story meand the wife and Chris's family are friends now. That has been 3 years now. DIDN'T mean to hijack thread. |

Re: Gonna enter my truck in it's first carshow tomorrow
I use to go to the shows all the time but i would park my 62 impala off to the side and enjoy the oyher cars and people. Several people all the time would ask me to enter the shows and say i could win. But never did. Its just not my thing. I like looking and talking to people. Maybe when i get my truck done i will start going again. just havent had time lately. Thats a poor excuse who does not have time for a car or truck show. But congrats on your win that is a beautiful truck. Hope looks that good when i am done.
