I'm new to the forum....Hello to all. I was wondering what was everyone's reason or motivation to buy a 67-72 c10. My motivation was being a kid...Born in 69 my Grandpa had a 70 or maybe 71. I to this day remember the smell of the truck. The front end and most of all the trips to the lumberyard and Winky's. I love them that much I bought 2.......1970 & 1971

My dad worked for Chevy and drove these all the time.

Took our family on a 6 week vacation in this.

1971-72
I was around 12 years old at the time. Went through the Blue Ridge parkway up into the Shenandoah Valley were he had some friends then over to grandma's house in VA. then outerbanks for 2 weeks then home to Charlotte.

I remember as a kid riding in grandpas 68 shortbed 4x4 going fishing. It was pale yellow and white. The truck also had cruise control cause i remember the gas pedal moving by itself while accelerating up hills and such and i do also remember how when the gas gauge would show close to empty and it would magically refill itself driving down the road,lol!Didnt seem like a big deal then but looking back hmmmmm......

Because i couldn't find a nice driver 64-66. But since then i have become hooked and havn't looked back. Don't get me wrong, i still have a soft spot for the 64-66 trucks! Joseph

Fell in love with the 69/70 front end styling in my teen years and HAD to have one!

I've had 3 of them so far and still own 2. (plus I have a 71)

I had a brother[RIP] that loved these trucks. I even built him a 70 driver in my shop one time, They were his all time favorite and I kinda got started with a green one like in the first pic[ not near as nice] and then it snowballed from there as it often does. Now I have a 68 GMC and two 70's and soon to add a 70 C50 to my stable. He was a good helper in my shop sometimes drove me crazy but I miss him

My Dad bought a '67 shortbed when I was 12 (I'm 48 now) and he still has that truck. Thats all it took for me to get hooked. I've had a 68 K20, 72 K20, 69 C10 swb stepside, 71 C10 lwb fleetside and still have my 71 K10 swb Cheyenne Super. It's hard to not fall in love with this classic body style.

And my grandpa had a 71' or 72' with all types of body patching, but i sill really liked it, and my dad had a buddy that always had nice Cheyennes.

I spent a few years in So.Cal. and I saw so many variations of the '55-'56 Ford F-100s. Always like the look of a "dumped" short stepside, but damned if it was going to be a Ford! Upon returning to the right coast, I promptly started a search for a Chevy Stepper. Found my barn-find in S. Georgia about two years ago, and haven't looked back since. Now a DD (22,000 mi. last year).

My reason, they're the essence of a work truck. No bells or whistles, reliable, and can do everything I need. Mine gets a work out regularly, and will continue to as long as I have it.

My grandfather had a1963 GMC. I started buying gm trucks in 1979. My brother bought a 1971 3/4 about fifteen years ago. So when I totaled my bike last summer I went in search for a vehicle that I could pay cash for. after looking high and low at several trucks, I found the truck I finally bought one here in this little hick town that I live in. The body is in decent shape but i have spent a small fortune trying to keep it running. One of these days I am going to tear it down and rebuild it.

My dad and grandpa had trucks 65,71-72 chevy trucks and so when I got older i bought a TWO 64 chevy trucks. got rid of them both but grandpa has one my old 64 chevy truck now. My avatar is the truck i have now for the last 2 years. Still have not drivin it but soon. I have always loved the 60-66 chevy trucks but I also wanted a 67-72 chevy truck. I would drive my 64chevy shortbed and give thumps up to the 67-72 chevy/gmc truck drivers all the time. Love these trucks.

My first vehicle was my grandpa’s 1969 chevy c10 (sure wish I still had it). My second one was a 1970 chevy c10.

How I got Greenie my 1972 GMC K2500 4x4 is odd. My middle brother Dan bought it from the original owner and drove it through college. He sold it to our youngest brother Jim who also drove it to college. I was in need of a farm truck about the same time my brother Jim decided to put Greenie up for sale so I bought it. I’ve had it since 1994 and drove it regularly up until about 9 years ago. I’ve had grand visions of restoring it but really had too many other things going on with my kids, work, and ranch. So Greenie has been patiently waiting on me. LOL.

Around 10 months ago my youngest son decided he wanted an old chevy truck to drive when he turns 16. He narrowed his years from 67 to 72 and we went looking. Found his 1971 Cheyenne ‘Nancy’ in January. We’ve been working on her since and should have her road worthy with in the next month.

So I guess my son is responsible for getting me back into these trucks. I’d forgotten how cool and fun they were. So much so I bought myself a 1971 Cheyenne at the Kansas City Mecum auction in March. When we finish up with Nancy I think Greenie will be our next project as we are both now addicted to these trucks. At least that’s what my wife tells us. LOL.

I grew up in my burb, and a neighbor had a '70 K20 PU.

So, it's all about the memories and first impressions for me.

On top of that, I personally feel that the 67-72 line up is the truck all others try to measure up to going forward.

Plus, I think the 67-72 just looks perfect as a 4x4.

We were deer hunting in Stokes State Forest NJ in 1970, on the way out, a Ford F-150 slid off the road in front of us. We were driving in a 1969 Jeepster Commando, it was around 10 degrees and getting colder. The Jeepster couldn't pull them out, it looked like it was going to be a long night for the Ford guys! Then a burgundy 1970 Chevy 4x4 with a locking front and rear came by and pulled them out with ease! Ive been hooked ever since!

My first college truck (1989) was a POS '80 GMC with the 5.7 Diesel. (Because of it I've refused to own a diesel since.) I needed a reliable form of transportation to make the 380 mi drive back and forth between here and Texas A&M. I wasn't crazy about the yellow at the time (things have obviously changed since then) and the owner had put on skinny tires with wire rimmed hubcaps. But Old Yeller had a zippy rebuilt 350 and was noticeably faster than any truck from the 80s. So in the Summer of 1990 Old Yeller came home with me and has been a part of the family ever since.

I decided to go back to the 67-72 trucks because of my 2007 GMC. The GMC is a nice truck but when I look under the hood and see all the electronics I just shudder.
I like the fact that the underhood wiring harness of these old trucks has far less wires than the GMC. The GMC has enough wires under the hood to run power to a small city,,,, and 2 or 3 computers in their somewhere as well.

I have the '72 K20 that I drive regularly , a '72 C20 and a '71 C20 that will be combined with other parts to make my "new" DD.

I have owned a '69 C10 custom camper with a BB, '71 GMC tonner dually , '69 C20 custom camper, '67 C10,and enjoyed all of them.

I guess for me it's a matter of loving the style and the simplicity of these trucks.

When I drive my K20 I always have people come up and talk to me about the one their Dad or Grandpa, or uncle had,,,,,, nobody talks to me when I drive the '07 GMC,, another reason why the GMC is for sale !!

i bought a 1969 c-10 chevy cst gold and white , fully loaded, bucket seats and console , in 1971, i got married in 1972 and we drove the truck on our honey moon, i drove the truck till 1982 and sold it to a fried of mine, in 1992 i bought it back and fixed it up for my daughters first truck, and she loved it. the same guy that bought that truck and later sold it back to me ,is the one i bought ole dollar from a little over a year ago. i wish i had the 69 back, but ole dollar will serve me well. work in progress....
