New member intro, Need advice plz

Howdy boys, My name is Dan and I have been lurking here for sometime. I have a 72 Cheyenne Super LWB that I did a ****ty facelift on 8 yrs ago. Today I wish to do it right. I have a friend who owns a body shop here and has graciously offered me a bay to work on my truck(HUGE reason I doing this build) I am by no means a mechanic, at best a R&R guy. I need advice from my friend on just about everything (Fortunately I follow directions well)

Here is what I would like to do

1. Replace 350 with LS1 5.3 with AT out of 03/04 Yukon my BS friend has one that has 45K or so on it. I would also like to go through the motor and give it a little more muscle :-)
2. Upgrade suspension
3. Possibly convert to 4 wheel disc
4. Lower 3/5 or 4/6
5. Relocate Fuel tank, I like the 69 camaro tank install with license plate fill.. (will this be ok for EFI motor? )
6. Vintage Air
7. New gauges ( I am going to dabble in making a wood instrument panel ( Woodworking I know well)

My concerns are making sure everything I use will work with LS1 motor. I read and read about the swaps being done and frankly end up confused (again, I am no mechanic)

Any help would be welcomed as you guys are experts in this area of building..

Thank you
Dan

I will try and add a few pics

Re: New member intro, Need advice plz

Thanks guys.

Burdic, I agree that I will probably like 3/5 better. Wife hates the idea of me lowering but I am doing it nonetheless

What I really need to know now is what would be best set up for suspension ie. Control arms, brakes, springs and such, I know the body and engine will take a while so I would love to have frame ready when others are done..

I'll be offering Cuban cigars if I don't get help soon

Re: New member intro, Need advice plz

cigarman welcome to the board, i have not tried a swap like this but have heard the computer and all the wiring have to be installed also, i have also heard that the computer will have to be reprogramed by some one that knows how to fool the computer to work and start, i know its been done, but you might check on what its going to take to do it.
thats why i stick with the older stuff...

Ok...then ask away over in our Suspension Forum.....now pass along some of those Cubans!!!

Early Classic Enterprises (http://www.earlyclassic.com/) might be your best bet...they offer complete drop kits
