I saw it on Ebay and wondered???

I saw someone selling a full dash unit for my 63' and it got me to thinking how difficult is it to remove the one in my truck? mine does need some work and prep and it looks like removing it (or the windshield) would be a lot easier than working on it in the truck....Has anyone done this?

Re: I saw it on Ebay and wondered???

If I get a chance i will post some pictures of the attachment points for it ,I just sold one a while ago I did not drill out all the spot welds I simply cut it out on the front side ... the hardest part is behind the inner dogleg ,the first panel towards the door from the dash , covers where it is spotwelded ... might be easier to remove 2 inches of that so you have access to dril out those welds ...

Post #3 on the following thread has a link showing the spot weld areas under the windshield:

And post #6 indicates where the others are at the ends of the dash.

Re: I saw it on Ebay and wondered???

Cool thread, Im fixing to remove one from my parts truck and was wondering how much of a PITA it was going to be. The rest of the truck has been disassembled and I figured somebody might be able to use it. I have removed the bolts, but hadn't gotten to the spot welds yet.

Re: I saw it on Ebay and wondered???

It took me a whole weekend to carefully remove this from a friend's '62. Air chisel, regular chisel/hammer, and an angle grinder.
