New Style 7" LED Headlight from Truck Lite
Well I know this was covered before, but I thought I would start a new thread on a new product I found. I like the looks of this revised version of the Truck Lite LED headlight. Here is what I found...
27270C Here is thier announcement: Through continual development of improved & brighter LED forward lighting technology, Truck-Lite has developed a newly designed 7" round LED Headlamp in support of growing market interest in the product. Made in the U.S.A., Truck-Lite's 27270C LED Headlamp utilizes a completely new light delivery method, adopting parabolic reflector technology to create a smooth, even light output. The use of metalized reflector optics provides a clean and homogeneous spread of light, more uniform than other options, without any targeted or focused beams or projector-type color artifacts. Paul Sniegocki, Truck-Lite's Vice President of Research and Development stated, "We used the latest in computer-assisted optics design software to create a reflector-based system that provides an optimum lighting pattern. We essentially increased visibility to the driver, while minimizing glare to oncoming traffic, providing illumination that's safer to everyone on the road." Truck-Lite's 2007 release of the a DOT-Compliant LED Headlamp marked the first time the commercial industry was offered the benefits of LED technology for headlamp applications. The product represented a giant leap forward in creation of visibility systems, and for the first time, offered the heavy-duty industry a headlamp capable of outliving the rigors of highway driving. "We received very positive feedback on the LED headlamp's durability and increased visibility, however we understood there was a need for a more conventional and stylized design. The aesthetic appearance of the new 7" round headlamps is very sleek and modern, catering to those looking for both a rugged yet traditional appearance." reported John Howells, Truck-Lite's Vice President of Worldwide Sales. The new design, which shares features of Truck-Lite's recent 5" x 7" rectangular release, meets or exceeds FMVSS-108 and CMVSS-108 DOT requirements for both low and high beam performance. The new LED Headlamp produces light far superior to that of conventional halogen lamps, with a color temperature of 5,800˚K, closer to the color temperature of daylight. The new lamp is designed with Omni-Volt® technology to accommodate both 12 and 24 volt headlamp applications, providing crisper and whiter light output than halogen alternatives, while extending product life and adding greater dependability. The maintenance-free lamp uses a solid-state, bulb-free system that's impervious to damage caused by shock and vibration, with a military grade, die-cast aluminum housing, non-yellowing polycarbonate lens and a scratch-resistant hard coating to protect against damage from impact, roadside debris and other hazards. Truck-Lite's 7" round LED headlamp, 27270C, is a drop-in replacement for #6014, 6015, 6016, H6024 and Par 56 lamp systems, utilizing standard H4 3 blade connector. Advanced LED technology has significantly reduced LED headlamp current draw compared to halogen products, to 3.6a high beam and 1.8a low beam, allowing more power for other vehicle requirements & extending alternator life. -------------------------------------------------- Here is the older style: 27250C It seems that the Jeep JK guys are all over this new style as an upgrade. There are some pics floating around as well as some video. When I run out of necessary upgrades I will pick up a set, but right now all funds are diverted to drivetrain swap... interesting... thanks for posting that up.
a quick Google search shows quite a bit of results and some vids. Can't really tell if they are equal to or brighter than HID's, though. |

*Sounds* like they might be very good, effective headlamps. At $500 / pair (price I found online), they darn well better be.
Out of my price range anyway....

I watched the 8 min video on them from their "lab". They look like a really good product and probably worth the $ given the technology and R&D involved...however, they are still $500 headlights. I do liked the smoked lens look though.

It sounds like the light dispersion is more optimized and has a cleaner cut off than HID but hard to say... |

Re: New Style 7" LED Headlight from Truck Lite
There's a good youtube vid of the lights shining on a garage door. If by light dispersion you are referring to it not shining upwards and into on coming traffic eyes, I think you are right as the lines on the garage were very defined, level and clean...just still can't get over the $500...haha...I'm such a cheap arse.
A little off topic but I feel the same about the Marquez tail lights...such an awesome product that's incredibly clean, but I just can't pay that much for tail lights.

Haha! I hear ya! That's exactly how I feel about those Marquez tails.
Almost pulled the trigger on them a couple of times but stopped myself. Had to convince myself that the price was waaay too much to spend on something that is purely aesthetic and vain. But they look so damn COOL!! |

Re: New Style 7" LED Headlight from Truck Lite
I also like these LED head lights, but that price is what killed it for me. If I'm spending $500, it isn't going to be on 2 head lights.

Re: New Style 7" LED Headlight from Truck Lite
We've been switching to LED lights in the Nuclear plant containment buildings where I work. Its like they put in giant skylights with the sunniest day outside. Brightest I've ever been in. Makes work a whole lot easier. Would like to see these in use at night. Might be worth it for us older drivers. Hopefully the price will come down though. That's a whole lot of beer money.

Re: New Style 7" LED Headlight from Truck Lite
My neighbor has a cobra kit car, and he has huge light issues, he bought some of the trucklite high and low leds. What a huge difference it made. Great product if you don't mind spending $250 each

Re: New Style 7" LED Headlight from Truck Lite
If a lot of the late model Jeep JK guys are switching, they must be an improvement over the factor 2012 Jeep headlight technology... There are some good youtube videos of light comparison... I will probably put one in my Harley-Davidson too....

I found them on ebay for $186. Search TRUCK-LITE 27270C Not cheap but less that $250 each.

Re: New Style 7" LED Headlight from Truck Lite
you will love it on the bike- I have both the gen 7 and the trucklite LED passing lamps on my glide. Cuts down the amperage on the charging system too which is nice (I run heated gear and have a "big" stereo installed on mine).

That's a great idea. I think I'll try it on my Valkyrie then buy another and transfer to my 69 Camaro

Re: New Style 7" LED Headlight from Truck Lite
Snow sticks to the lens because there is very little heat output. So if you live and drive up north, wait till they come out with the heated version.

They are built on a huge cast aluminum heat sink.... I didn't realize how heavy they were.
