4 Wheel Drive/Front Axle not engaging
Ok I'm pretty sure that this has been discussed on here before, but I'm at work and I dont have time to search through the 3 billion threads on this site:p . I went to engage my 4wheel HI this morning while driving on a muddy dirt road. The front axle didn't engage. I put it in 4wheel LO and I knew the transfercase was working because where rear wheels were moving in low gear, but still no front axle engagement. The 4wheel drive indicator light didn't light up at all either. What is broken? I remember readin about it but for the life of me I can't remember!!!!!! '95 K 1500 4x4. Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!

troubles
First, check your fuse. Then see if you have power to the front thermal actuator on the differential housing while the shift lever has been engaged. If you have voltage then chances are it is the actuator itself. These commonly fail. You can buy a newer faster style or you can buy an aftermarket manual set up that is basically a cable you control from the cab to engage the front. It is called posi-lok. Thats what i put in and it is trouble free.
