Radio off when I first start my truck?

Sorry if this question has been asked, but I can't seem to find anything to answer it...

So when I first start my truck, my radio is completely dead. No matter what you do (turn on/off, play with the volume, etc.) it won't do anything. After probably 5 minutes, it starts to come in very quiet and fuzzy, and then after another 5 or 10 minutes the radio will come in fine.

Is it something inside of the radio going bad? Or maybe the speaker (Not stock.. Got it at a junkyard)?

i would try hooking up another speaker to the radio, the speaker could be bad, you could just lay it in the floor and hook the wires up and see if it starts working, if not, the radio needs to be worked on or replaced, dash mounted speakers are prone to sun damage....hope this helps...

How hard is it to remove the speaker? The sound from my radio is so quiet I can barely hear it. Could this be the antenna causing the low sound?

Hi are you using the stock type plug in
I've seen the copper strips in them warp/break and not connect

I had a pioneer HU that used to do the same thing towards the end of its life. The front panel would light up and seem to work, but no sound or response to controls. The control board for the unit was slightly warped (much like when you overheat a computer processor board). When cold it wouldn't connect, but when the truck got hot behind the dash it would flex enough to make the connections again. I just ended up replacing it tho.
