Stock fuel tank
Ive read a lot of threads with different tank swaps. Even some with fuel cells in the bed. Has anyone just relocated the factory tank from inside the cab, to in the bed? Maybe build a brace around it?

Re: Stock fuel tank
I'm not sure it will fit right. I run a 35 gallon stainless steel auxiliary tank on my 71 that came with another truck I bought several years ago. It does take up the front nine eight inches of the box though. My stock tank was full of varnish and crud from sitting for ten years with a half tank of gas in it so it got pulled out and junked.
There are a lot of those auxiliary tanks floating around for these trucks in different forms. |

Re: Stock fuel tank
I would not recommend relocating the stock tank to the bed(when there are mutiple company's manufacturing great fitting tanks) I think you would be time ahead just purchasing a new one. I bought Early Classic tanks for both my trucks. They cost a little more but, work well. Call Mark or Stan they are great guys and will take good care of you. Cheers, Pat

Re: Stock fuel tank
I've seen some threads on getting a tank from an old camaro and fitting it underneath the bed. I may look into this as well.
Is it possible to get a new tank, place under the bed and still use the same fill spot? |
