Lock Outs

I have talked to my local junkyard about puttin lock outs on my 1978 GMC Jimmy, they told me that i would need the lock outs themselves and redo some stuff in the transfercase? is this true and if so what is it that u have t change in the transfercase something i can do, any special tools? anything along those lines? thanks for ur imput.

I am guessing you have the part-time NP203 tcase. There is an article on ck5 about how to convert it.

Mile Marker sells the transfer case kit and then all you need is the lockouts. You should be able to get this at your local parts store.

203's are full time 4wd unless you have a the part-time kit that MJN mentioned. Does your front drive shaft turn freely in 2wd? If not you don't have a part-time kit installed. You'll need the kit before putting locking hubs on. http://milemarker.com/ - board member GrimReaper knows just about everything there is to know about the NP203. He is also on CK5.
