Brake pedal won't spring back?
I am getting close to getting
My truck on the road but keep running into little gremlins After I press the brake pedal it will not Spring back It actually keeps the brakes locked up But if I reach down and pull it back up they release right away I have removed the return spring and compared it to another one I had and the tension seems to be the same as well I have lined the entire Pedal assemble and everything works freely And suggestions or comments would be helpful The truck is a 72 with power brakes Thanks Brian Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Brake pedal won't spring back?
It does it running or not and disconnecting the booster doesn't seem to
Make any difference All I can think is maybe the linkage at the booster is bound up somehow but I can not Really see that being a problem I luned all of that linkage before I installed the booster and master cylinder on the firewall Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Brake pedal won't spring back?
I would just disconnect the brake push rod link inside the firewall and see if pedal work properly. If it does, you have a bind in the booster. You'll probably have to remove it and see if you can detect where it is.
If you look at a booster image diagram you can see the rear part has a spring and a lot of parts that can bind. You might be able to lube them. |

Re: Brake pedal won't spring back?
i had the same problem when i reassembled my truck and i found it was the shouldered bolt that connectes the arm to the pedel and it has a clip on the end, it was too tight and making the pedel stay applied. i used a tripple lock nut and left it slightly loose and put made sure the clip was on the end of the bolt.

Re: Brake pedal won't spring back?

Re: Brake pedal won't spring back?
When this happens I loosen the 4 nuts on the firewall to see what that does. But,it's usually the booster is seizing up at the back side as mentioned. Do your brake lights stay on until you pull you pedal back?

Re: Brake pedal won't spring back?
I will have to check that out and see if anything is bound up at the back of the booster
