That is a very nice truck and even cooler that you took it out to the mountains. Looks perfect!

Re: Who took their old truck camping over the weekend?

Well up until 2 years ago I was taking a yearly 5 week vacation from MN to UT camping and living out of my truck and dirt biking. Then the back injury hit. That was the end of that. But it was a blast taking your classic truck out on a road trip.

Aw man, no, my truck still had the front off for painting, had to take my buddies Ferd. Ripped his trailer connector off going up a steep hill.

Love the teardrop trailer! I plan on getting one of those one day. Did you build yourself or is it a manufactured one?

Thanks! I designed and built it from scratch. Way cheaper and much nicer than you can buy. It's self contained except for a toilet! I think I have about $1500 in it.

Re: Who took their old truck camping over the weekend?

Hey I didnt know there were other shorthair hunters on the site.
I had to put shorthair # 3 down last November and I am left with a 4 year old Weimeraner but sure miss my pointer.
If I ever find a slick old overhead unit to slide into the custom camper I will have to take it out and post pictures of a camp out.
Old trucks, bird dogs, camp outs, dirt bikes.....Sounds like heaven to me.

Great looking trucks out there in the mountains fellas. Good job using it the way it should be. And the trailer is just too COOL! I can not wait till my truck is on the road and able to go camping. We don't need no stinkin tents hahaa.

My wife, kids and I spent every vacation we had camping, way more fun than Disneyland! Nothing better than swimming all day and sitting around a campfire all night! Besides you can drink beer before noon and food always tastes better! My kids, all grown up now still make me tell them scary stories when we go camping together. Nothing better than camping.

Thanks! It's sheeted with aluminum, I had to learn how to anneal aluminum to make all the trim bend. It's got a queen size bed, DVD, XM, Direct TV, fold down flat screen (I don't know why, we rarely watch tv) 20 gals of on demand water in the pull out sink, fridge, pull out oven and stove and it all runs on solar and propane. I used to have a big camp trailer but this is so much more fun and way easier to tow.

Airspeed you are a craftsman for sure! Your trailer looks really well built and I'm sure it is a great conversation piece when you are on the road with it. Also like the tow veh as well!!!

Thanks. We were up at about 5000 feet with scattered patches of snow, so the ground was a bit soggy. Plus there was a chance of rain, so I didn't want to get all bogged down in mud in the ol' 2wd.

Too bad about number 3. I've never had shorthairs before, but I'm sure sold on them now. I got a pair of hellion litter mates 5 years ago and they had a blast up in the hills. The left one is Ruger and the right one is Whiskey. I've been on the lookout for a nice Alaskan Camper to slide in the back of my truck for just such occasions. Until then, I guess I'll just bunk in by dad's Lance!

Here's a couple more pics under construction, if you look at my Photobucket acc you can see lots of pics of it being built, there's a bunch of stuff there that I build. It wasn't hard to build, I think I did it in two months a couple hours a day.
