Tank sending unit float?
Does anyone know the part # for the plastic fuel sending unit floats from one of the big three auto parts houses. I know they supply them but the kid at the counter just says I have to buy the whole $97.00 unit.

Re: Tank sending unit float?
I ordered one off of e-bay for a 65-72 ford car. It's a solid float made out of neopreme with a brass end. It won't fill up with gas and sink like the factory floats do and works with the original truck sending unit. Cost me $8.00...here's a pic of one. Joseph

Re: Tank sending unit float?
My float is brass!?! I have one if you need it, but just a note: DO NOT EVER plug your sending unit into any other position on the fuse block except for the fuel gauge slot. If you run 12 volts to your sending unit, it will burn the resistance material and cause a fire or explosion!!!! I nearly had a catastrophy by not wearing my glasses, I can only assume that while I had flames - my gas tank didn't ignite because the tank was full making the mixture too rich to burn!! I was extremely lucky. G.
