On board air
Anyone here running an on board air compressor on there truck I was thinking of doing so and using a stock ac compressor and building a front bumper to double as an air tank been looking at jeep forums and it can be done fairly easy just curious if anyone here had one

Check my build thread for my 78. It's in my sig I think. I have converted my AC compressor and need to finish installing the rest of the system.

The converted A/C compressor does put out a ton of CFM, but does need to be fitted to the front drive and require oiling. They can sometimes be un-reliable. This not to say that some people have this system without problems, as I am sure many have run this type of setup with great results. I just want to throw out another option for you. I would suggest a single or pair of VIAIR compressors plumbed into a 2.5 or larger tank.
The VIAIR's are oil-less and required little to no maintenance..... just change the air filter every so often. We sell all that stuff if you are interested in going with electric compressors for your OBA. |

Wel my plan being as my truck is a non a/c truck to use a stock sanden compressor I could use factory brackets and belts mount an inline auto tool oiler to the fender well and run quick connects to each end of the truck. Put a toggle switch in the cab to activate the compressor clutch and a pressure gauge in my extra spot on my dash put pop off valves and air governors where needed and make it look all nice and clean
