GMC hood vs Chevy Hood
I have been saving two hoods for my 71 chevy for almost 2 years. The GMC hood is in slightly better shape than the Chevy, but its been primered, so who knows what that is hiding.
My question is, are the later GMC hoods the same as the 69-72 chevy hoods? I though after 68 they were the same. If they are different, I will just sell the GMC hood and use the Chevy one. Thanks!

Re: GMC hood vs Chevy Hood
Yep to that one, This is the Chevy hood that is on my 71 GMC. I put it on the truck when my aunt wrecked it when my aunt and uncle still owned the truck. You can still see the outline of the Chevy emblem around the M.

about 27 years ago my aunt got in a wreck with it and I did the repair work but at at the time I couldn't find a GMC nose and bought the Chevy pieces from my buddy and used a tube grill that I bought at Bowden's auto parts where I worked. A couple of years ago I was coming home from work and there was a broken GMC grill laying in the ditch next to my mailbox with the GMC emblem in the middle of it. A bit of sawing and welding and I had a one off grill. I was thinking today that I might get the tube grill powder coated as spray can paint only lasts a few months. The truck originally belonged to my uncle Slim the one in the cowboy hat for a number of years. |
