87 Speedometer issue - Help ?
New development, I don't drive the truck often anymore, it just started this:
On my '87 V30, the speedometer goes in complete circles around the guage. It does it regardless of speed, even at idle. The speed of the needle going around is proportional to driving speed, but it never stops while rolling. Anyone had this happen or know what I can look for? It's a TH400 tranny and the TBI engine with electronic speed sensor/speedo. Thanks fellas, and Happy Friday!

87 model will have a cable with a VSS, find another and replace the head unit itself. Sounds like something internal broke in the speedometer. I'm not sure how many years had the VSS, but I'd think at least 82/83 and up to 87 (88 and 89 square body burbs and crew cabs) would work. The electronic speedometer did not come out until 90 for the suburban and crew cab.
