1965 Wiring question

I was doing some rewrapping of the wires that go to my starter on my 283 engine.....One of the wires that is attached to the ( I ) side of the starter was doubled back about a foot and then back to the terminal what is the reason for this? it was attached to the yellow wire at the connection...thanks
