Opinions on Tail Lights

Hey guys,

My burb has the rear of it shaved and I'm trying to decide what tail lights to use. I'm going patina/fauxtina with it, so the LED's won't really mesh with it.
I have a set of caddy lights from the 88-93, though I think that's a tad bit of a better look then the LED's it's still not that much better. I can just about see where the PO just covered the original housing, so I thought I might be able to cut them back out. I'm afraid that's way over my skill level and may not be worth it.

Any ideas on other tail light applications that would look decent? Open to just about anything.

Re: Opinions on Tail Lights

What are you doing for a rear window? maybe just some small motorcycle bullet lights in there so it stays shaved but no LED strips?

I really like truck lights molded in...

maybe see if there are any rectangular led's you could get that are similar to the factory size and have waterproof assemblies.

Re: Opinions on Tail Lights

Still using the original hatch, no difference there. Just no way of letting down the tailgate

I'll look for some rectangle LED's that look original. Again, I'm not opposed to the caddy lights. I already have a set and you can pick the buckets up for like $35.

Re: Opinions on Tail Lights

Since the tailgate is now useless as a tailgate why not put some horizontal lights along just above the bottom of the original tail gate just high enough to clear all of the bottom of that section?

78/84 El Camino Malabu Wagon tailights might work and don't seem to be too expensive but you would have to build housings for them. They might also work as vertical lights on the back of that rig and look different but not out of place.

Re: Opinions on Tail Lights

I'm leaning towards the caddy lights. My buddy has done them on other vehicles a lot and said he'd do them for me reasonable if I bought the buckets.

Re: Opinions on Tail Lights

How about '67-68 Camaro lights? They have a bezel and great support for LEDs or billet bezels if that is your desire. Either solid red or red /white if you want back up lamps.

Re: Opinions on Tail Lights

Since you have a rollpan already,
how about the Caddy lights horizontally?

Re: Opinions on Tail Lights

my opinion, NO on the caddies...vertical or horizontal....plus they are over used ....i was originally gonna try ford maverick tailights long, rectangle, all red, probably would fit well in that flat light area they used to be in...i ended up using the same body style truck lights on mine..i love it, come out awesome...again, my opinion

Re: Opinions on Tail Lights

I saw one on here with smoked Hummer H2. Looked real good. I want H2 lights on my burb.

Re: Opinions on Tail Lights

Me I like the stock lights, maybe flush fit them though. But I think if you are going low with big tires and wheels, plus the molded in rear you can go with the LED lights.

It would be a good blend of old (the patina) and modern
