12 bolt

Anyone know if the 4*4 6 lug 12 bolts use the same gearset and carrier as the 5 lug 12 bolt.I've got a 3.08 and looking for 3.42-3:73 looks like there were more options in
4*4 I'm running a 5.3 and swaping the 350c to a 700r4 and not sure how the 3:08 are going to work out

Re: 12 bolt

The truck 12 bolt gears will interchange,,,,but the carrier break is 3.42, so if you are running what is actually a 3.07 gear, anything more than 3.42 and you'll need the carrier to go with it,,,,unless you buy new thicker gear made for the 3.42 and down carrier.

You might find the 3.07's aren't bad. I run a 6.0/4L60E in my blazer and ran 3.07's for a while along with 33" tires. With the 3.06 first gear it still had get-up-and-go and would lay rubber. Not sure how your 5.3 is going to react however. You might need more gear with that engine.

I went 3.73's in mine not too long ago when I came accross another pair of housings. Definately a big difference in performance but it's not something I feel was necessary. It runs good either way.

Re: 12 bolt

should interchange, 5 lug and 6 lug 12 bolts were pretty much the same aside from one lug
