Fuel gauge switch

Can anyone tell me should I be worried about when I pull the lights on the fuel gauge drops about 1/8 on scale, if i pull the lights with the key off it drops to empty. I have pulled the cluster cleaned the contacts, changed fuel gauges and still it happens. Is this something I should be worried over?

Thanks in advance to all the kind folks here, yes I'm a real sissy when it comes to electrical matters

Re: Fuek gauge twitch

You've probably got a ground in your lighting circuit. Are any of the of the other gauges are affected ?

Re: Fuek gauge twitch

None of the other cluster gauges are connected. The previous owner put in all mechanical gauges so the only working cluster gauge is the fuel

Re: Fuel gauge switch

may need to consider adding more grounds behind the cluster
or just confirming they all are hooked up right

Re: Fuel gauge switch

Guess I'll just drive her till she frys at this point. I have checked all power leads and cluster grounds, changed the fuel gauge cleaned and serviced all the contact points everywhere and still the gauge jumps when i pull the lights on.
Oh well I knew she was an old gal when I bought her

Thanks to all for your help
