Mount rad fan without removing rad?

Is there a way to put the get the radiator fan in without taking out the radiator? I was able to find one that should fit my truck and I did a little test fitting and can't get it around the fan with the radiator in. I've never removed the any part of the fan (looks like the stock belt driven fan on the 350 in my 64 C10). It has the long bolts that look like they're only holding the fan fins on, but I'm afraid to remove them in case it does more damage I can't see. Do these bolts just hold the fins on? Taking the fins off might make all the difference.

the long bolts hold your fan to the water pump. removing those will free up the fan. no need to remove the radiator. If you have a fan shroud, unbolt it from your radiator to gain access to the fan bolts. got pics?

Re: Mount rad fan without removing rad?

I don't think I explained it right. I'm trying to install a fan shroud in my truck without removing the radiator. So, if I'm understanding you right, I can take off those bolts and the fan will come off and it won't damage anything? I know it's a pretty stupid question but I've never dealt with belt driven fans.

ok.. i see now. loosen the tension on the belt to the fan(loosening the alternator). remove the bolts from the fan. insert the shroud (dont bolt it up yet) install the fan (you will have to do this inbetween the radiator and fan shroud)then bolt up your shroud. give the fan a few spins before you tighten the belt so that you can check for proper clearance. then tighten the belt.
