lowering with headers?

hey guys what headers are you running when lowering your truck. ive got 5/5 drop (3inch sprindle 1 cut coil and flip kit) i find my self wanting to go lower now. a static drop. like c-notch and drop shackles and lowering springs.
ive got long tube headers that are made for these years of trucks and they hang pretty low already..
here are some pics.

Re: lowering with headers?

i have a bagged dually with headers, im close but dont hit. I can raise up though so not 100% sure i would do it, try some shorty or mid length. That would probably be more suitable for driving at a dropped stance. Looks great as is, I think....my .02

Re: lowering with headers?

Ive always run 70's camaro headers, really close to the passenger frame rail but no issues yet.

Re: lowering with headers?

depends on how low you go, i got away (just barely) with a 7 inch front drop.

after i channeled my front crossmember 2.5 inches. bye bye full length. that put me at 9-9.5 inches of front static drop and thats not including the smaller tire diameter as well (25.5x5). im about 12-13 inches in the rear do to the 33X19.5s.

i was gonna throw shortys on, but i dont want loose all the airflow (which means less power). so my brother and i started these fender exit headers.

i dont have any pics of the individual pipes. but the stahl flanges with 2 inch primaries and 3.5 inch collectors. there just tacked right now as we speak, waiting for my bro to tig weld them, then there getting sent to be ceramic coated.

BTW it doesnt look like it in the picture, but my rocker panels are around 3-4 inches off ground.

Re: lowering with headers?

Did you bolt those on? Or weld? Did you utilize the hole in the frame for the original mount?

Re: lowering with headers?

been running cheap Hedman long tubes with a 5.5 front drop for 8 yrs. now . Thought about replacing them when engine was out this year, but just ended up painting them > still in good shape ,other than a little flattened spot where its hit pavement before . Sort of like one of the other posts where they welded a plate on the lowest point . Good luck

Re: lowering with headers?

i plan on bagging the truck and want to lay on the cross member . not lay frame. so want to to be side of the frame rails to be safe. unlike what i have now they hang pretty low already with 5/5 drop

Re: lowering with headers?

Those are low!! If you want full.length and full power you have a few options either cut and weld. Try some camaro headers or go with dougs
