Hoods
Hey, just had a quick question. Does anyone know if a hood from a 1961 Chevy Pickup would fit a 1964 Chevy Pickup? Didn't know if the lines would match up or not.
Thanks! Tori |

Re: Hoods
Yes. Any 1960-66 Chevy or GMC pickup or Suburban hood will interchange. You just need to make sure to use the hood latch (on the hood) that goes to the year you are using. On 60-61 the hood release is accessed from between the hood and the grille support. The 62-66 type is accessed through the opening on the driver side of the hood. In fact some of the best hoods are found on school buses, and other big rigs. Those hoods will fit as well, except for the models that have the little shorty hood that's about 2 feet long.
My truck is a 1960 GMC and it's wearing a 62-66 Chevy hood.

Re: Hoods
Yes they will.
I will be putting a 61 bubble hood on my 64 in the next few weeks. And I am told that the grills are also interchangeable but I don't know if they are direct bolt ins or if you have to do some drilling.

Re: Hoods
Thanks, guys! I appreciate your quick response. My hubby is glad to hear that he can put the hood on his pickup that he really wanted. He likes the look of the earlier hoods better than the one that's on it now.

Re: Hoods
The grill supports are the same from 60-66, but the grill mounting locations are different between the different years. Will just have to drill the holes to match the grill.

Re: Hoods
something I ran into putting a 60 hood on my 65.. I had to adjust the "pin" on the mount almost all the way to the top, couldnt get the hood to latch and unlatch right.. I discovered that the pin from the 60 hood latch was about 1.5 inches longer than the 65 pin. once I installed the 60 pin to the 65 latch I had all sorts of room for adjustment amd was able to get it to work like it should.
