Hot Rod Power Tour Deer Strike

http://blogs.hotrod.com/power-tour-c.../#.T9Dm9tXwv8k

I made the Hot Rod web site, hit a deer between Detroit and Muskegon. Hard hit, no warning, lots of front end damage, replaced the radiator and went on to St Louis before headed back to Ohio.

Re: Hot Rod Power Tour Deer Strike

Oh no ..

I hit one in a Nissan XTerra going about 40, man it was a huge buck. It did $2200 worth of damage to it. Bent both front fenders, the hood, busted the radiator, etc.

Scary stuff man. I know what you mean about the seat cover!

Not the way you wanted to get HotRod coverage, huh?

Too bad you're so far away, I've got a couple hoods you could use.

Re: Hot Rod Power Tour Deer Strike

I just talked with my insurance guy, I never had the value adjusted after I installed the V8 and T56, actually just finished it ten days before the power tour. He said I was under insured, so I am a total loss, 5500-6000 in damage. Waiting on his next phone call.

Anyone near Ohio looking to get rid of some front ends parts and a passenger door, let me know, I am in the market.

Put the trucks on jacks at Thanksgiving, finished late May, back on jacks before the end of this month! Not a good year for my truck.

That sucks. Didn't you have collision coverage? What are they valuing the truck at?

Re: Hot Rod Power Tour Deer Strike

That sucks... at least it completely missed the bumper, so no frame damage at all. I hit one MANY years ago in my 67, I think around '98, but I was almost completely stopped and it didn't damage my truck at all, just kinda bumped it and knocked it on it's ass then it ran away... little bastard...

How are they getting 6K in damage? Even with new repop parts I'm only seeing a couple grand in parts... and unless they've been bowed out, a good shop can save/reuse the fender and door.

Re: Hot Rod Power Tour Deer Strike

After talking with the adjuster. 3200 in parts and paint, 2000 in labor.

New hood, radiator, radiator support, grill with all parts, door, plus all the small stuff.

I had the truck insured to 6000, so they are going to write the check for everything. The adjuster said true value of the truck was around 11500.

Old value was with the 6 banger.

It will work out, now on the hunt for some parts!!!!

Sorry to see that happen. Out here on the east end of long island those damn things multiply faster than you can shoot them. There have been many accidents involving deer that have caused serious injury or death out here. Glad no one was hurt, get yourself some new sheet metal and get her back cruising!

Glad you made it home, we talked at a gas station in Northern Indiana, I was in the brown and white K5. Search Craigslist, if you find anything towards Central Illinois, I'll go check it out for you. Good luck getting it straightened out!
