Re: help 54 chevy powerglide

Turn signal switch I would go with this:
http://limeworkspeedshop.com/newstor...&products_id=7

As far as Tranny and engine your questions aren't very clear. If using a 235 make sure it has hydrualic lifters usally came hydraulic with the powerglide the better model motor is late 58 to 62. read this: http://www.patricksantiquecars.com/articles.html

If it were mine I would get rid of the heavy cast iron powerglide and go with aluminum case came on late 60's car's way better tranny. You did not say weather your truck has open driveshaft or closed (Torque tube) If it has closed driveshaft than you need to change the rear end to use aluminum case tranny. Good Luck

Smile Re: help 54 chevy powerglide

Morning Brother, thank you of you for you info.
I am really looking to keep the truck original as possible. I am not lowering it or updating the brakes, etc.(old school)
If I could find some diagrams or assembly drawings showing the automatic connect maybe I can somehow fabrication or by the parts.
It’s a close rear end (1st series) , I have a power glide out of a Chevy car and the 235 motor came out of a 56 Chevy. I attached some picture of my truck.
Also not sure if I would like to chrome the grill and bumpers, what do you thing?
Any ideas…..

Re: help 54 chevy powerglide

Go to the Pomona Swap meet August 12 trying to fab is a pain in the rear, and the link I posted "Patricks" he has a few trucks in the yard he might have what you need, a heads up they are pricey. Your truck column looks to me that it didn't with turn signals it was an option on early trucks dealer installed that is why I posted the limeworks link. Good Luck on your build!
