Skinny tire suggestions

Im looking for some info on tires for some original size rims. Im considering getting some stock rims (15x5.5). I would like to run the original hubcaps(66). Im having trouble figuring out what to use for tires. I like the original style bias ply look, but what i have been finding is that all the tires seem to be car oriented(short in height) I want to try to find a like a 29" 30" tall tire, but reccomended rim width seems to start at 6"to 8". Im trying to find some BFG Silvertowns. Any ideas?

Looks like a standard 235/75R15's. Basically radials. I think if you want bias ply they will cost alot and the ride will suck a bit.

Like fleetside said, the look they give (I love it too) will come at the expense of how the truck handles on the road. They actually ride very nicely, but it's the turning part that sucks. The repro BFG Silvertown tires I have (710x15) feel as though they are going to come off the rim if I take a corner at more than a walking pace. Since my truck is not used often, they will stay. If It were a daily driver I would definitely have to compromise the look a little and get some radials.

Have you looked at the universal tire website? Not sure if that's what you're looking for. They have Silvertowns on page 2, but they're a bit pricey!

Those BFG's on page 2 are great looking truck tires, but they are for 20" wheels.

225-75-15 are pretty skinny and height looks good also

Heres how it sitting as of today w/235/75r15 on factory rims. Dont mind the dirt.

I'm also running 235/75- 15's they are close to stock height and radial tires are the way to go, even with the factory split rims. The skinnier the tire the easier it will be to park.

235/75/15s are slightly taller and wider than the stock 66 tire - but they look great imo.

(EDIT: these are cheapie Tires Plus Primewells... I had a bear of a time finding dual blackwall tires for some reason, so settled on these)

Thanks for the responses. I really like oem4me's silvertowns. Roads suck here in MI, so i better get the radials. I really like the skinny look tho. Has anyone fit the 235/75/15's in the original 5.5" wide wheel? Most of the tires i see all start at 6" for reccomended rim width.

you are correct, most do recommend 6" min. I drilled down this rabbit hole a few years ago and 5.5" wheels are fine. The pic I posted above are 15x5.5" stock 66 steelies with 235/75/15s mounted on them.

a little while back i decided to look up the current tire on my truck, which is a thin whitewall 205/75/15 Firestone fr380...i found out that it's also available in a 215/225 & 235 as well....it's an all season tire too...the Mastercraft A/S IV tires are also available in the same sizes, as well as the Cooper Trendsetter SE....here's a couple pics of my truck with the tire size mentioned above:

Mine are stock steelies also...3 years and no problems. Ran them on my last 63 for a few years also.
