3/4 ton frame vs 1/2 ton frame

Ive looked a bit and couldnt find any particulars on what I'm looking for.

I'm helping a friend build a 53 3/4 ton pickup. He just placed the order for Speedways mustang II front kit and it was backordered minus the boxing plates.

He got the boxing plates and noticed they were nothing like the shape of the frame. I dont know why it didnt occour to me sooner knowing that the two frames are different, but how different. How much change is there in the front part of the frame where this M II kit welds up.

I ended up going with a whole new clip. He does not want to.

Anyone have measurements/suggestions/ideas? I'm dreading the worst that this mustang II kit wont work with this 3/4 ton frame.

I know that the section of the frame behind the cab is different on a 3/4 ton as it doesn't spread out like a 1/2 ton does and the spring hangers are on the sides of the frame rails. I'm not sure about the front part.

You do have to do some trimming on the bottom frame rails on the AD trucks to fit the boxing plates in most situations.

I didn't think there was a lot of difference at the front end of the frame but will look in the assembly manual when I get home if my brain remembers to do it.

If this worked the top photo should be a half ton frame and the bottom photo should be a 3/4 ton frame.

The print is so small that it won't copy well.

You might be able to copy it and play with it on your computer though.

This should be the close up of the drawings for the 3/4 ton frame. I'm not seeing a lot of differences except for the placement of a couple of brackets. The front crossmember is the same part number in both drawings.

I did find out that Scotts hot rods makes IFS kits for the 3/4 ton frames. Air ride with power steering for 2500. Not bad considering the quality of those guys parts. Now gotta look into the rear
